Microsoft "allows" open source!

Anyone who knows the history of Microsoft might still be surprised at this, I was.

"schools will have "more flexibility" in the way they license Microsoft software, and can opt for "more cost effective choices that include "using alternative and free to use software"

"there is no obligation to buy stuff from the Redmond software giant though, and under the terms of the deal they will not be penalised for using an alternative."

Penalised for using competing products?

"This anti-trust thing will blow over. We haven't changed our business practices at all."
-- Bill Gates

He wasn't kidding, was he?
