Tours, film, music on tap for Norton's next Art After Dark | Palm ...

Art After Dark, Thursday night?s popular gathering of art lovers, will offer tours of the abstract art area at 5:30 p.m. and the "American Masters" exhibit at 6:30 p.m.

A highlight is the screening the Academy Award-nominated film Waste Land, which follows renowned artist Vik Muniz to his native Brazil to visit the world?s largest garbage dump, where he meets pickers of recyclables called "catadores." They create photographic images of themselves out of garbage. The film offers commentary about "the transformative power of art and the alchemy of the human spirit."

Award-winning jazz vocalist, violinist and fiddler Nicole Yarling will perform. For three years, Yarling toured as a featured soloist with Jimmy Buffet, and she played on Buffet?s platinum-selling CD, Fruit Cakes, and then went on to do eight worldwide tours with her own project, Little Nicky and the Slicks.
